With a rich mix of influences from Indians, Chinese, Spanish and Americans, Manila is the vibrant capital of the Philippines and its cultural and economic centre. Thanks to the trade with Latin America during the three centuries of Spanish colonisation, Manila became an important city, known as the ‘Pearl of Orient’.
Don’t miss a visit to the Spanish remains in the Intramuros district. Important landmarks in the area are the Malacañan Palace, the City Hall, and the Manila Cathedral.
Rizal Park is a national icon, while the Baywalk promenade is great for enjoying the well-known city sunsets. Ermita and Malate districts are famous for the nightlife, trendy shopping and restaurants, as well as for some luxury Manila hotels. Between the promenade and the districts, its easy to see why Filipinos call Manila, “The City of Our Affections” where the people's love affairs with fashion, music, entertainment and sheer fun are on bright and beautiful display.
Divisoria is a traditional district for local shopping, bargains and typical food. Binondo is the oldest Chinatown in the world.
For hotels in Manila near the airport, Ninoy Aquino International Airport is not far from Makati City, where a second cluster of hotels are located.

It seems to be a way of life, but Manila is congested with pollution & traffic. Will there be a solution to these problems when the earth is on the verge of destruction? Global warming is real,& it’s on us to take this matter seriously. My 2 weeks stay in the Philippines was horrible due to the unprecedented hot temperature that I have to think twice whether it’s worth visiting the place soon. Constructions of buildings are everywhere that there is an imbalance on natural beauty as a whole. There is purely greed for sure.

Manila, is the capital and second-most-populous city of the Philippines. Located on the eastern shore of Manila Bay on the island of Luzon, it is classified as a highly urbanized city. As of 2019, it is the world's most densely populated city proper. It was the first chartered city in the country, and was designated as such by the Philippine Commission Act No. 183 on July 31, 1901. It became autonomous with the passage of Republic Act No. 409, "The Revised Charter of the City of Manila", on June 18, 1949. Manila is considered to be part of the world's original set of global cities because its commercial networks were the first to extend across the Pacific Ocean and connect Asia with the Spanish Americas through the galleon trade; when this was accomplished, it was the first time an uninterrupted chain of trade routes circling the planet had been established.

Manila has good food.
Manila has good food. Try halo-halo to help you with the hot weather here
For transport I would recommend booking through ride hailing apps for safer and smoother transactions. Avoid those white regular taxis. You can book Grab for convenient car ride around the Metro, motorcycle option (Move It, Angkas, Joyride) is also common in Manila bec of the traffic. Food delivery is also available in the Grab app with lots of options.
For clothing, the usual H&M, Zara, Nike, etc. is everywhere, for local brands you can try taking home from Bench or Penshoppe which is cheaper and good quality
Airport, make sure to be there earlier since immigration and check in counters can be very long and slow. Can be very traffic going there as well
Avoid walking around sketchy places and neighborhoods especially at night.
BGC, Ortigas and Makati are pretty safe places
Card payment available almost everywhere, except of course on street food and jeepneys/buses/train
Tipping, not mandatory unlike other countries but staff/crew would be glad to accept anything

Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City.
Metropolitan Manila is a very interesting Asian City. The US Dollar to Philippine Peso exchange rate was favorable to US travelers, so meals, taxis/Grab ride-shares and hotel prices were made more affordable. Tons and tons of restaurants and entertainment options available just about everywhere you go. Spas and massages are very reasonably priced, and so are beauty and nail salons. There are at least 4 major casinos: Okada, City of Dreams, Solaire and Newport (?). Dampas are a must for first time travelers-this is a place where you buy your seafood from a fresh market and take your purchase to a nearby restaurant to have them cooked to your specifications (for a separate fee, of course). Shopping malls are numerous and a great draw for crowds, especially on weekends. Post-COVID major name entertainment is coming back, but still a little on the slow side at this point.

Manila is good for those that wanted to see the city and who loves to shop as it is where you will find the biggest shopping mall in Asia (Mall of Asia). There are also places where you can see and experience the history and culture of the Philippines (Visiting Intramuros and Luneta for example).
There is a guard at entrance of the area which hotel is located. So security is perfect.
The trafic is very heavy in manila, so i choose this room which airport is close.
I was surprised because I need to wait for a line for Grab taxi for 50 minutes at airport and it took 30minutes from airport to the hotel because of traffic jam even though the hotel is only less than 5km from it.
The room is simple, but i could enjoy smoking at terrace.
We didn't have breakfast at the hotel we ate at the local shops in the area , we have stayed at Red Planet makati before so it was what we expected with the facilities , the room was clean and tidy the air conditioning kept us cool when we needed to be cool.the double bed was nice and very comfortable and the location of the hotel is ideal being so close to Manila Airport just a short trip away in a taxi
Great hotel for the price. Excellent location. Very close to SM mall of Asia & the airport. We landed in Manila at 1am and checked out by 1pm the next day (it was only a stopover until our flight to Palawan) but I would definitely return if we return to the Philippines in the future. Staff were nice and friendly and the rooms were clean. It’s far from luxury but it was perfect for what we needed it for.
The staff is the heart of this hotel! From Front Office, Security, Engineering to Housekeeping - everyone was just so friendly and professional! I'm regretting that we didn't find this hotel before, otherwise we could've stayed longer! Lobby was nice and clean. Rooftop pool was stunning and got a skyline view of Makati. There is also a parking available on site! Loved everything about this hotel!
The room was spacious. The hotel is in a convenient location opposite the mall and with fast food restaurants,.7 Eleven and Starbucks nearby. It took 30 mins to get to and from the hotel from the airport by taxi.
This was my first night in the Philippines so I had nothing to compare it to. I just needed a base in Manila between flights and it was ok for that.
I had a wonderful stay at red planet manila bay because of the many factors such as the excellent location. You can just walk from the hotel to US Embassy which really made this an excellent choice. Outside the building are establishments that will cater your needs. Red planet makati has state of the art facility which will make your stay a pleasant stay.
The hotel is close to the airport, room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was excellent. The concierge was very helpful with securing us a ride across town with a fixed rate so we did not have to haggle with a cab driver. If you are arriving in Manila on a late flight and need to stay in the city for the night, this is the place.
The staff was very helpful, friendly, and willingness to help you was unsurpassed most hotels i have stayed at. Thank you for the pleasant stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who was coming to manila. for the money you pay and the service you receive it is awesome. thank you.
We are upset with our stay in Manila Hotel, they don't have a good customer service, hotel don't have telephone it's really hard to contact the reception for our needs, facilities is not good re: no remote for Airton, TV not working, cabinet has problem, no dryers & swimming pool is dirty.
Enjoyed my stay overall. Breakfast buffet was surprisingly good. Loved the fresh bread and butters. Onsen Spa access is a bonus that I was not able to find in other Manila Hotels in previous places. Was not able to check out their rooftop bar but heard good things. Will be back!
This is my go to hotel every time I fly through Manila. The property is not only beautiful but it is the standard for cleanliness. The staff is Always Amazing and care about you having a Great stay. You will Never be disappointed when you book at The Belmont.
It was so comfortable, They provided us with good care and convenience during our stay in Manila. It had a great outside view, The staff were respectful. It was overall, A good hotel. I overall, Recommend going there if you are planning to be at Manila.
I had a great view of Manila and Makati. Was great to see the rain pass over the city. Bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in. Very peaceful hotel. The cleaning staff looked after me for the three weeks in total I stayed there.
I like how comfy the bed is.with the affordable accommodation and good location, you get what you paid for in a good way.since i travel to manila for work, i get to spend a night or 2 in hotels around makati and so far this is the best
One of my favourite hotels in Manila. Friendly staff, great service, good breakfasts. I was pleasantly surprised to get a free pick-up from the airport. The pool is wonderful, a great escape from the chaos and heat of Manila.
the price in the internet was the same like in real. most hotels in manila just make a new price when you arrive and they see that you a white. specially OYO group.
